Greater North Camaroon

PROJECT AT A GLANCE

Reaching communities in the far north of Cameroon

PROJECT GOALS

✓ Facilitate access to mother tongue Scriptures
✓ Train Bible listening group facilitators to start 120 groups
✓ Improve lives through access to basic community development audio resources in the mother tongue
✓ Support 10 new church plants

The Far North of Cameroon faces huge challenges including the spread of terror, severe persecution of Christians, rampant poverty and infectious diseases, lack of clean water, no electricity or running water, illiteracy and Bible poverty. Their climate is arid, with part savannah and part mountainous terrain. Small fields of millet, peanuts and cotton surround villages scattered throughout the savannah highlands of these communities. Despite adversity there is a great hunger here for God’s Word.

The overall focus of this project is to increase the effectiveness of evangelism, church planting and discipleship in the selected communities. Some of them have translated portions of Scriptures while others don’t have a single verse of Scripture in their language.

Oasis Network partners with other organizations, the local churches and communities to train community leaders and local workers to take the Scriptures to their own people in a language they understand best—the language that speaks to their hearts. Together we will produce audio
materials on topics of health, agriculture, human rights, the importance of education, etc., in the mother tongue.

How can you help?
